Community, charity & environment

At AJ Bell we have a strong social conscience and encourage our people to give something back through charitable and voluntary activities. Whether that’s taking part in a sponsored walk, sleeping out to raise money for homeless causes, collecting donations for a local food bank, or volunteering within our communities, we are proud of the efforts our staff and we support them through paid time off for volunteering and through our matched fundraising programme.

Here are some highlights from our charities and community programme:

In January 2022 we launched a two-year partnership with mental health charity Stop.Breathe.Think.

The charity provides young people aged 21 and under access to free one-to-one counselling sessions. With no wait times and a team of specialised counsellors, the charity is ready to support to any young person who would like to talk.

Smart Works

We are a proud partner of Smart Works, a UK charity that gives women the confidence they need to secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives. The partnership is part of the AJ Bell Money Matters campaign, which aims to close the gender investment gap of £1.65 trillion in the UK.

We are delighted to be working with Smart Works on a range of events to help women achieve financial independence.

University of Salford Partnership

In 2021 we launched a partnership with the University of Salford, supporting students completing an undergraduate computing degree. We are working with UoS on a range of initiatives, including providing real-world challenges for the university's annual ‘HackCamp’, a module where students collaborate to solve issues experienced in business, as well as our sponsorship of the ‘AJ Bell Technology Award’, awarded to the best performing students across the university's computing degree.

City of Trees

In 2021 we launched a new partnership with City of Trees, an environmental organisation based in Greater Manchester. They aim to deliver a green recovery and tackle the climate emergency head on, through planting trees and restoring woodlands for the people and wildlife of Greater Manchester. Our employees have been busy helping, rolling up their sleeves and planting 180 trees themselves so far, as well as getting involved with habitat restoration and woodland management projects.
