Finding Your Feet and Snow-Camp are the two brilliant charities that we have decided to support this year – you can find out more about them and the work they do below. The AJ Bell London Triathlon is a fantastic opportunity for competitors to raise funds on behalf of good causes, so we have provided these two charities with a number of complimentary places for their supporters to take on the challenge and do just that.
Finding Your Feet
Finding Your Feet was set up by a remarkable woman called Corinne Hutton, who had to have both her hands and her legs below the knees amputated after suffering an acute case of pneumonia and septicaemia. The charity she founded provides a lifeline to other families who, like her, have been profoundly affected by amputation or limb difference. As well as organising sporting initiatives like swimming, climbing, skiing, cycling and general fitness, the charity also arranges social inclusion projects and visits from experts such as benefits advisors, prosthetists and massage therapists. Finding Your Feet holds numerous fundraising events throughout the year, but also relies greatly on corporate and individual sponsorship in order to continue its important work.
Corinne will be there at the AJ Bell London Triathlon, taking part in her first ever Triathlon and raising money for this great cause in the process. Find out more about her story and keep up-to-date with her training progress here.
Snow-Camp
Snow-Camp is the only registered charity in the UK to combine skiing, snowboarding, life-skills and vocational opportunities as a way of supporting inner-city young people. They work with people across the UK who are aged 13 – 21 and who might be failing in school or could have dropped out altogether. Some may have committed juvenile crimes and are now on a negative life path. Snow-Camp aims to empower these people, increase their motivation, help them gain accredited qualifications and access employment opportunities in the snowsports industry and beyond.
