How do I invest in the Pension builder fund?
The Pension builder fund is powered by the AJ Bell Balanced fund. You can hold it in an AJ Bell SIPP, or it can be your investment option in a Ready-made pension.
You can invest in it in various ways:
If you're new to AJ Bell: We’ll give you information on the fund and offer you the option to invest in it when you first apply for a SIPP. You’ll have the option again if you add money at a later date.
If you already have an AJ Bell SIPP: You can find out more information on the fund and you’ll also see an ‘Invest now’ button. You'll be prompted to log in to your account and taken to the ‘Buy and sell’ page for the fund. Once you’ve invested in the fund, you’ll then see the AJ Bell Balanced fund in your portfolio.
With a Ready-made pension: You can select the Pension builder fund when you apply. Any money you pay into the Ready-made pension will then be invested into the fund, including money we receive from pensions you transfer using our free Pension finder. If your Ready-made pension is already invested in a different AJ Bell fund, you can swap funds by logging into your account and heading to Ready-made pension fund choice in the Update my details section, choose the fund you want to switch to, and we’ll do the rest.
By providing you with the Pension builder fund, we aren't giving you personal advice. Before you invest, you need to make sure that you understand all the risks and are comfortable that this investment is right for you. The value could go down as well as up. Make sure you read the fund's Key Investor Information Document (KIID)/Product summary and factsheet to understand the full picture.
How much will I pay in charges for the Pension builder fund?
For holding the fund in your AJ Bell SIPP, you’ll pay our funds account charge. This charge is based on the total market value of your fund holdings, calculated on the last working day of the month. We take the charge monthly from the cash in your SIPP, usually within 20 business days of the month's end.
Our annual fund account charge is:
- First £0 - £250,000 – 0.25%
- Next £250,000 - £500,000 – 0.10%
- Value over £500,000 – No charge
Our annual charge for managing the Pension builder fund comes directly out of the fund itself (not from the cash in your SIPP). This charge is also known as the OCF – or Ongoing Charges Figure – and is fixed at 0.31% per year.
You pay no dealing charge when you buy the Pension builder fund. Our £1.50 dealing charge applies when you come to sell it.
If you choose the Pension builder fund for your Ready-made pension, you’ll pay a single annual charge of 0.45%. This will come directly from the fund itself. There’s no separate account charge and no charge to switch your Ready-made pension investment.
