Who can open a Lifetime ISA?
Answer
To open a Lifetime ISA (LISA), you need to be:
- Aged at least 18 and under 40
- A resident of the UK, a Crown employee working overseas, or a spouse or dependant of a Crown employee
Having opened an account, you can keep paying in until the day before your 50th birthday. You won't be able to open an account if you're 40 or older, but if you have an existing LISA with another provider, you can still transfer it to us. Read about how Lifetime ISAs for over 40s work.
Can I open a Lifetime ISA for someone else?
Only the account holder can open and manage their LISA. However, you can gift money to an account holder to pay into their LISA.
Can I open a Lifetime ISA in joint names?
No, Lifetime ISAs can only be opened and held by one person.
