Don't ignore UK Gilt yields. Here's why
UK gilts have endured a brutal few years as rising inflation and higher interest rates pushed bond yields sharply higher and prices lower. But after one of the worst periods on record for bond investors, could UK government bonds once again deserve a place in a diversified portfolio?
In this video, AJ Bell Investment Director Russ Mould explores the outlook for UK gilts and explains how investors can assess the risks and potential rewards on offer today.
The benchmark UK 10-year gilt index has fallen more than 30% since its 2020 peak, prompting debate about whether the decades-long bond bull market is over and whether today's higher yields provide sufficient compensation for the risks investors face.
