Gold price: how much higher can it go?
Gold prices have surged, with gold up 160% over five years and silver up 460%. But can this precious-metals bull market continue?
Russ Mould examines the history of gold and silver prices and asks what is really driving the latest rally – and what could bring it to an end.
The video looks back at gold’s three major bull markets since 1970, from the end of the Bretton Woods system through the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis and into the current environment.
Russ explores why investors have historically turned to gold during periods of concern about monetary and fiscal policy, and why today's combination of government debt, inflation, bond-market pressures and uncertainty around central-bank policy matters for precious metals.
In this video:
- Why gold has risen sharply over the past five years
- The history of gold’s major bull and bear markets
- Why gold may act as a hedge against policy error
- What interest rates and quantitative easing could mean for gold
- The potential risks to the current gold and silver bull market
Russ Mould provides an evidence-led look at gold investing and the factors investors may want to consider when assessing precious metals.
