Avation names Tony Romano, once of Airbus America, as commercial chief

Avation PLC on Thursday said Tony Romano had been appointed chief commercial officer.

The Singapore-based commercial passenger aircraft leasing company said Romano joined in August and "will lead and mentor the company's global airline marketing team".

Romano has more than 30 years of international aviation experience, including senior roles at Nordic Aviation Capital, Airbus America and Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.

At Nordic Aviation Capital, Romano served as vice president, leading airline marketing and commercial activities across North America.

Before that, Romano was director of sales for North America at Airbus America, where he led a multidisciplinary team and played a leading role in Delta Air Lines' Airbus A220 campaign.

Avation said it "considers Mr Romano's extensive industry relationships, commercial judgement and extensive experience in aircraft marketing and transaction execution position him well to support the placement of these aircraft, while also leading lease extensions, remarketing and transitions across the wider Avation fleet".

Shares in Avation were up 1.0% at 136.91 pence each in London on Thursday afternoon.
