Braemar boosts dividend as half-year sales and earnings increase
Braemar PLC on Wednesday backed full-year guidance as it reported sales growth across its three main businesses in the first half of the financial year.
The London-based provider of investment, chartering and risk management advice said pretax profit ballooned to £4.7 million in the six months ended August 31 from £900,000 the year prior.
Basic earnings per share soared to 11.03 pence from 0.68p, or by 28% to 11.89p from 9.30p on an underlying basis.
Revenue increased 16% to £74.3 million from £63.9 million with all three segments posting growth.
Chartering sales rose 18% to £44.4 million, Investment Advisory were up 10% to £15.1 million and Risk Advisory revenue grew 17% to £14.7 million.
The interim dividend was boosted 10% to 2.75p per share from 2.50p.
Braemar said trading since the period end has been in line with the board's expectations.
As a result, full year revenue and underlying operating profit are seen in line with market expectations for £142.7 million and £14.2 million respectively.
Targets for FY30 remain unchanged and Braemar remains confident in building a £200 million revenue business with a 15% underlying operating margin by that time.
Chair Nigel Payne said: "Management has a clear focus on growth and, against the backdrop of strong markets, has invested in senior hires, established a new power desk in our securities business, and expanded our trainee programme. That is investment in growth: building sustainable revenue through the cycle and delivering against the objectives we set ourselves at the start of the year as part of our strategic framework."
Shares in Braemar were up 2.5% at 244.00p each in London on Wednesday.
