IN BRIEF: AIB adds former HSBC Europe CEO James Emmett to board

AIB Group PLC - Dublin-based lender - Appoints James Emmett as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect. Notes that Emmett was formerly the chief executive of HSBC Bank PLC and HSBC Europe, and has over 30 years of international experience in banking and financial services. More recently, Emmett was chief operating officer at the National Wealth Fund, says the company. This, explains AIB, is a UK government-owned policy bank. Adds that he is currently CEO of Switzerland-based provider of financial and physical precious metals trading services, MKS PAMP SA.

‘We are delighted to announce James’s appointment and welcome him to the board of AIB. His extensive leadership experience in financial services in the UK and internationally will contribute positively to the work of the board and further strengthen its collective expertise,’ says AIB Chair Jim Pettigrew.

Current stock price: 829.24 pence, down 0.6% on Wednesday morning in London
