IN BRIEF: Balfour Beatty wins £325 million Netherton Hub contract

Balfour Beatty PLC - London-based infrastructure construction - Secures a two-year contract worth £325 million from Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks, which is part of Perth, Scotland-based utility SSE PLC, to deliver the Netherton Hub in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Balfour says the contract builds on its appointment last year to deliver enabling works at the site and notes the hub will enhance the UK’s national grid and enable Scottish renewable energy to be transmitted efficiently to demand centres nationwide. Balfour Beatty says it will deliver earthworks and civil infrastructure under the contract.

‘Securing this contract reinforces Balfour Beatty’s position at the forefront of the UK’s energy infrastructure market,’ says Chief Executive Philip Hoare.

‘The Netherton Hub will play a pivotal role in enabling the delivery of secure, homegrown, low-carbon power at scale. We are proud to be working with SSEN to deliver infrastructure of such national importance - drawing on our proven expertise in complex, large-scale projects.’
