IN BRIEF: BHP says Western Australia Iron Ore central to portfolio

BHP Group Ltd - Melbourne-based resource mining company - Neither explicitly denies nor confirms media speculation over a potential partnership involving part of the Western Australia Iron Ore business. "BHP has a long history of partnerships at its assets, and regularly explores options that may create long-term value to its shareholders," BHP says. Notes that WAIO remains central to its portfolio and that it is still fully committed to WAIO.

For the financial year that ended June 30, iron ore production at WAIO remained flat at 257 million tonnes, compared to a year earlier. WAIO owns four processing hubs and five open‑cut operational mines in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia. It operates more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and two port facilities.
