IN BRIEF: Capital Gearing Trust appoints Emma Moriarty fund manager
Capital Gearing Trust PLC - London-based investment trust - Appoints Emma Moriarty as named fund manager across its multi-asset funds with immediate effect. Moriarty has worked with Capital Gearing Asset Management for four years and has managed its three bond funds for the past two years. Previously, she was a senior economist at the Bank of England. Moriarty will manage Capital Gearing Trust and CGAM's other multi-asset funds with Chris Clothier and Peter Spiller. The three managers will have equal decision-making power. Alastair Laing will step back from his role as co-manager to focus on his chief executive officer duties. Laing says: "Since joining CGAM, Emma has become an increasingly important member of our investment team and has made a significant contribution to both our investment thinking and the management of our portfolios. Her macroeconomic experience and particular expertise in fixed income and index-linked bonds complement the skills already within the team." Moriarty says: "Having worked closely with Peter [Spiller] and Chris [Clothier] since 2022, I am delighted to take on a greater role in executing the disciplined, long-term investment philosophy that has underpinned the company's management to date."
