IN BRIEF: CT UK High Income Trust has 18% total return as chair exits

CT UK High Income Trust PLC - invests in UK equities for income with opportunity for capital growth and managed by David Moss of Columbia Threadneedle - Net asset value per ordinary and B share rises 12% in the financial year that ended March 31 to 113.21 pence from 101.12p a year before. Total net assets are £137.5 million, up 18% from £116.1 million. Total return per share is 18.3%, improved from financial 2025 but short of the 21.5% return of the fund’s benchmark, the FTSE all-share index. CT UK High Income paid a 5.96p per share dividend for the recent year, up 2.9% from the year before, giving a distribution yield of 5.5% on ordinary shares and 5.8% on B shares as of March 31.

‘The UK equity market has remained relatively resilient despite persistent geopolitical headwinds and has shown a determination to go up whenever the prognosis changes for the better, somewhat on an unpredictable daily basis,’ comments Chair Andrew Watkins, who will be stepping down after nine years at the company’s annual general meeting on July 28. A successor hasn’t yet been named.
