IN BRIEF: GlobalData confirms two private equity takeover approaches

GlobalData PLC - London-based data analytics and consultancy - Confirms it has received ‘preliminary, conditional’ takeover proposals from two different private equity investors. One is from funds managed by ICG Europe Fund IX SCSP. The other is from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co LP. The offers are for a cash acquisition, with an unlisted equity alternative. GlobalData says it is in discussions with each of ICG and KKR, who now have until May 28 to announce a firm intention to make a takeover offer.

Earlier Wednesday, analysts at Deutsche Numis Research had upgraded GlobalData shares to ’buy’ from ’hold’, citing recent share underperformance against the broker’s unchanged price target of 215.00 pence.

Current stock price: 170.75p, up 26% in London on Wednesday following the afternoon announcement
