IN BRIEF: Guardian Metal signs tungsten database development deal

Guardian Metal Resources PLC - London-based miner focused on tungsten exploration in Nevada - Signs collaboration agreement with forensic origin verification company Oritain Global Ltd, to facilitate the development of a tungsten origin fingerprint database. Says this is intended to support the development of provenance verification for tungsten for governments, industry and end consumers. The database will include tungsten from Guardian's Tempiute and Pilot Mountain projects, which it says leave it "uniquely positioned to work with Oritain in establishing this inaugural database, which will also provide the company with a significant strategic advantage."

Describes this as "particularly timely" given new US defence procurement restrictions which take effect at the start of 2027. Expects these "to drive tighter traceability requirements across the tungsten supply chain." Also highlights a July executive order restricting the availability of sourcing waivers for covered-country materials and directing comprehensive supply chain mapping and traceability requirements, which makes verifying the provenance of US tungsten "a legal and commercial necessity."

Guardian Chief Executive Oliver Friesen comments: "This agreement with Oritain is a meaningful step in building a fully transparent and verifiable tungsten supply chain entirely on US soil and further demonstrates Guardian Metal's commitment to supporting national efforts to reshore critical mineral supply chains."
