IN BRIEF: KCR Residential posts loss amid deteriorating London market

KCR Residential REIT PLC - Surrey, England-based residential property investment trust - Reports a pretax loss of £2.90 million for the year ended June 30, 2026, swinging from a £327,641 profit a year earlier. Revenue rises 15% to £2.17 million from £1.89 million, as "strong performance gains in the core rental income of 19% were partially offset by lower levels of sales commissions", the company says. The revaluation of investment properties results in a £2.28 million loss, compared with a £1.16 million gain a year earlier. However, refurbishment costs nearly halve to £106,979 from £203,129.

Looking ahead, Chair James Thornton says the company's focus on operational performance and cost control continues to reduce cash outflows. He says deteriorating conditions in the central London residential property market drive negative valuation movements. "Property values can and do fluctuate," Thornton says, adding that the group's London properties are well located and performing well. He expects market conditions to remain soft in the near term but retains a positive view of the London market over the medium term. "Market conditions for residential property in London are expected to continue to remain soft in the near term however we continue to have a positive view on the London market over the medium term," he adds.
