IN BRIEF: Tharisa inks offtake PGM deal with Valterra Platinum in SA

Tharisa PLC - Paphos, Cyprus-headquartered platinum miner in South Africa and Zimbabwe - Says Valterra Platinum Ltd has agreed to buy 50% of platinum group metal concentrate from its subsidiary Tharisa Minerals (Pty) Ltd from January 1, 2027. Valterra replaces Sibanye Stillwater Ltd as an offtake partner of Tharisa. Tharisa notes that Northam Platinum Ltd retains its existing offtake arrangement for the remaining 50% of the Tharisa mine's PGM concentrate production. Also says Tharisa and Valterra are collaborating to explore opportunities for fine chrome recovery and beneficiation at Valterra. The latest multi-year agreement comes after Tharisa late in August signed a binding term sheet with Valterra for the offtake of PGM and base metal concentrate from the Karo platinum project in Zimbabwe.
