Air Liquide SA - Paris-based industrial gas supplier - UK Competition and Markets Authority launches merger inquiry into the anticipated acquisition by Dolby Medical Home Respiratory Care Ltd, trading as Vivisol, of Air Liquide Healthcare Ltd's home oxygen services business. The CMA is currently considering whether the merger could result in "substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the UK for goods or services." The regulator announced its request for comment on the transaction in August.

Stirling, Scotland-based Vivisol is a subsidiary of Italy-based Sol Spa. It provides healthcare services, specialising in respiratory care. The company holds four regional home oxygen therapy contracts with the NHS, serving 20,000 patients.

The inquiry has a deadline of November 19 for its phase 1 decision. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
