British Land says new CEO Joanne McNamara to start in September

British Land Co PLC on Thursday said Joanne McNamara will join as chief executive and executive director on September 14.

The London-based real estate investment trust announced the appointment of McNamara in June.

She will succeed Simon Carter who, in January, said he was departing to join P3 Logistics Parks, the GIC-owned investor, manager, and developer of logistics properties in Europe.

Carter will step down from the board and leave British Land on August 31. Chief Financial Officer David Walker will assume leadership responsibilities in the short interim period between Carter's departure and McNamara's start date.

McNamara is currently executive vice president, Europe at Oxford Properties, a global real estate investor, developer, and manager wholly owned by the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, one of Canada's largest pension funds.

Before that, she worked at Oxford Properties, joining in 2010, and has worked for Hammerson PLC and DTZ Investors.

In addition, British Land said it will move into its new head office on Regent's Place next Wednesday.

Shares in British Land fell 0.1% to 411.64 pence each in London on Thursday morning.
