C&C acquires 'well-loved' Innis & Gunn brand from administrators
C&C Group PLC on Friday announced its acquisition of investee Innis & Gunn.
The Dublin-based beer, cider, wine, spirits and soft drinks maker has been a minority shareholder in, and brewing partner of, Innis & Gunn ‘for a number of years’.
C&C bought the Scottish brewery brand from its administrators for £4.5 million, funding the consideration through its existing facilities.
‘We have worked with Innis & Gunn for many years and whilst it’s under difficult circumstances, we are delighted to bring the brand fully into our portfolio,’ commented C&C Chief Executive Roger White. ‘This is a compelling and highly synergistic opportunity to save a well-loved brand for which we currently brew most of the product.
‘Our existing brewing and route-to-market platform allows us to integrate the brand effectively and quickly, supporting the ongoing supply of products to customers and consumers.’
C&C said the takeover is an attractive opportunity to broaden its portfolio with a premium well-established brand, and expects the integration to present a very low execution risk. It hopes to ‘unlock brand value with minimal requirement for incremental overhead or capital investment,’ it continued.
White added: ‘We expect this acquisition to make a small positive contribution to our overall financial performance in FY27.’
Shares in C&C were up 1.7% at 111.00 pence on Friday afternoon in London.
