Central Asia Metals production stable in quarter; reiterates guidance

Central Asia Metals PLC on Thursday announced production figures in the first quarter that were similar to that of a year ago, as it highlighted that 2026 ‘promises to be an exciting year for our project pipeline.’

The Kazakhstan and North Macedonia-focused mining company said at Kounrad in Kazakhstan, it produced 2,880 tonnes of copper in the first quarter of 2026, up 1.0% from 2,852 tonnes a year prior.

Meanwhile, zinc-in-concentrate production at Sasa in North Macedonia fell 7.0% to 4,282 tonnes from 4,603 tonnes.

Lead-in-concentrate production at Sasa declined 1.2% to 6,529 tonnes from 6,608 tonnes.

Chief Executive Officer Gavin Ferrar said: ‘2026 promises to be an exciting year for our project pipeline, with maiden drilling programmes at our Group exploration projects in Kazakhstan. In Scotland, we have funded an additional phase of drilling at our associate company, Aberdeen Minerals, to test a new target zone at the Arthrath project. We eagerly await the results of these programmes, and the potential value additions they may offer.’

For 2026, Central Asia Metals reiterated its guidance of a copper production between 12,000t and 13,000t, between 2.3% and 9.8% lower than 13,311t in 2025.
