Clarkson raises yearly outlook on volatile commodity, freight markets
Clarkson PLC on Tuesday raised its annual profit guidance, encouraged by particularly strong trading in August and September.
Shares in the London-based shipping services company rose 6.7% to 5,390.00 pence in morning trading.
Clarkson said it expects at least £135.0 million in underlying pretax profit for 2026. In 2025, it reported underlying pretax profit of £90.6 million.
The company, which offers broking, financial, support and research services for the maritime industry, said trading in August and September was "very strong", driven by instability in the commodity and freight markets caused by geopolitical turbulence.
"In some areas we have seen record freight rates and this has also then passed through to asset prices," Clarkson said.
In particular, the company said its broking and financial divisions recorded revenues ahead of previous expectations, with the broking services contributing to a strong order book.
