Comptoir to repay external debt despite interim revenue fall
Comptoir Group Plc on Thursday said its performance in the first half of 2026 was "resilient" and that it will be able to repay its external debt in September, despite the uncertain global economic environment.
The group, which owns and operates Lebanese, Middle Eastern and North African inspired restaurants both inside and outside the UK, reported revenue of £15.7 million, down 1.9% from £16.0 a year prior.
Pretax loss widened to £226,000, from £69,000.
Comptoir said the group expects to repay external debt accrued back in the second half of 2025 by September 2026, adding that it will prioritise prudent capital management for growth beyond this year.
The group cited ongoing cost of living pressures and global uncertainty caused by the situation in the Middle East as challenging for the hospitality industry at large and for their franchise partners in the area.
"Notwithstanding these factors, through the consistent and disciplined management of capital, the group is well placed to navigate these pressures, and we remain committed to delivering real value and outstanding guest experiences, notwithstanding the economic challenges in the sector currently," said Chair Richard Kleiner.
As previously reported, James Fisher will step down as finance director on October 30. He will be replaced by Nathan Portelli, currently head of Finance.
Comptoir shares were down 1.0% at 5.45 pence on Thursday morning in London.
