CT Global raises dividend as outperforms FTSE All-Share

CT Global Managed Portfolio Trust PLC on Wednesday reported an increased net asset value and dividend for its latest financial year.

The Edinburgh-based investment manager's NAV per share was 130.77 pence as of May 31, up from 113.6p one year prior. NAV per income share decreased to 113.36p from 116.51p.

CT Global growth shares were down 0.3% at 326.00p on Wednesday in London. Income shares were down 4.5% at 128.00p.

The company's NAV total return for the year ended May 31 was plus 25.1% for growth shares and plus 23.3% for income shares. In both cases, it outperformed the FTSE All-Share Index, with delivered a plus 21.6% return.

However, it underperformed against the plus 27.6% total return from the FTSE All-Share Closed End Investments Index. CT Global also noted that the UK consumer price index posted a 2.8% rise.

The company has decided to, for the financial years beginning on or after June 1, 2026, to show its performance against the above three comparators, instead of exclusively using the FTSE All-Share Index as its benchmark. The index, it said, "does not closely reflect what the company is allowed to invest in."

"We have listened carefully to what matters most to shareholders and, as a result, have undertaken a number of initiatives," Chair David Warnock said. "Whether through clearer performance reporting, protecting income against inflation, providing a more convenient dividend payment schedule or making fuller use of existing features of the company's investment policy, each initiative is designed to improve the experience and outcomes for our shareholders."

In addition to replacing a single benchmark with three comparators, CT Global said it will aim to increase dividends by at least the rate of inflation, as measured by the UK CPI, over rolling three-year periods. It also intends to make monthly rather than quarterly dividend payments, starting from the next financial year.

Additionally, its investment managers "intend to make fuller use of the existing features of the company's investment policy, including using the borrowing facility in both portfolios."

CT Global declared a 7.85p annual dividend per income share, up 3.3% from 7.60p the year before.

It noted that its total annual dividend has increased by 9.0% over the last three financial years, compared with CPI of 8.4%.

Looking ahead, Warnock commented: "[The initiatives], and an encouraging first year by our investment managers, give us cause to be optimistic for CT Global Managed Portfolio's future."
