Devolver Digital says first-half trading ahead of expectations

Devolver Digital Inc on Friday said first-half trading was ahead of expectations, supported by strong game sales, and expressed confidence in its second-half release pipeline despite a slower-than-expected start for one of its latest titles.

The Austin, Texas-based video game publisher said revenue for the six months ending June 30 is expected to be at least 60% higher than in the first half of 2025.

Underlying adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation are projected to reach the mid-single-digit millions of US dollars.

Shares in the company rose 8.6% to 19.00 pence in London on Friday morning.

The company said the strong year-on-year performance was partly due to the timing of its Devolver Steam Publisher sale, which took place in the first half of 2026, as well as a strong start to the year, including three top-10 global best-selling games on Steam in January.

However, Devolver said its subsidiary System Era’s new title, Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions, had made a disappointing start following its early access launch in June.

The game benefited from a ‘significant’ platform agreement, but unit sales have fallen short of expectations.

The company said review scores are improving and regular content updates planned from August through the end of the year are expected to revive interest in the title.

Devolver said it remains encouraged by its line-up for the second half of 2026.

Its subsidiary Firefly has generated 250,000 wishlists for Stronghold 4 within two weeks of its announcement, while Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 has attracted around 260,000 wishlists and Shroom and Gloom approximately 220,000.

The company said the stronger-than-expected first half and positive response to upcoming releases are expected to create a ‘profitable cushion’, although this will be partly offset by the weaker initial performance of Starseeker.

Devolver said it will provide further details on first-half performance and full-year guidance when it reports half-year results in late September.
