Filtronic wins PS7 million deal for satellite constellation programme

Filtronic PLC on Thursday said it secured a contract with a European aerospace manufacturer to supply parts for a low earth orbit satellite constellation programme.

The Sedgefield, England-based maker of advanced micro electronics said the deal is valued at over €7 million over the next three years.

The company that Filtronic secured the contract was unnamed, but Filtronic said it was a ‘leading’ European aerospace manufacturer.

Filtronic said it will supply radio frequency assemblies which are engineered to withstand the ‘demanding conditions’ at low earth orbit.

Chief Executive Nat Edington said: ‘This contract highlights our increasing diversification across customers within the space markets and reflects the trust placed in Filtronic’s capability to deliver at scale for the most demanding space applications.

‘As demand for satellite connectivity continues to grow, this is another milestone in Filtronic’s mission to support the growing satellite market for Non-Terrestrial Networks, Mobile Satellite Services, and Direct-to-Device connectivity.’

Shares in Filtronic were down 1.5% at 133.00 pence on Thursday afternoon in London.
