Games Workshop "in great shape" as profit beats guide; ups dividend
Games Workshop Group PLC on Tuesday reported strong trading in financial 2026, with profit coming in ahead of its expectations, and declared another dividend for the new year.
The Nottingham, England-based fantasy game figurine maker and retailer booked pretax profit of £275.7 million for the 52 weeks ended May 31, up from £262.8 million in the 52 weeks ended June 1, 2025.
This compares to guidance for pretax profit of at least £265 million.
Earnings per share advanced to 624.0 pence from 594.9p, as revenue grew to £659.7 million from £617.5 million. Core revenue was up 11% on-year to £626.8 million while licensing revenue fell to £32.9 million from £52.5 million, which Games Workshop said was "in line with expectations following the launch of Space Marine 2 in the prior year".
This compares to guidance for core revenue of £625 million and licensing revenue of £30 million.
Games Workshop declared an interim dividend of 140p per share, which takes the dividends declared for financial 2027 so far to 230p, up from 140p the previous year.
Last month, it had announced a 90p-per-share first dividend for the new financial year.
Looking ahead, the company said it remained "customer-focused" and anticipated building on its progress.
"Our goal remains to reach out and find new fans, and to engage and inspire existing Warhammer enthusiasts," the company noted.
It has grown its Asia-Pacific headcount with more staff in China and South Korea and expects Warhammer World in North America to be nearing completion.
Chief Executive Kevin Rountree commented: "Games Workshop and the Warhammer hobby are in great shape.
"We delivered group revenue and profit before tax at record levels thanks to another good performance from the core business.
"After a record year, we remain customer focused and look forward to building on the progress we have made. I thank all of our customers together with our staff, trade accounts, our licensing partners and broader stakeholders for their ongoing support. Exciting times."
Games Workshop shares fell 2.5% to 19,720.00p each on Tuesday morning in London.
