Gresham House gets grid connection date for battery energy project

Gresham House Energy Storage Fund PLC on Thursday announced the UK’s electricity transmission system operator gave a firm connection date to one of their battery energy projects.

National Energy System Operator gave a Gate 2 connection offer for July 2027 to Gresham House’s Monet’s Garden 57 megawatts battery energy storage system project.

Gate 2 connections are given by Neso for projects that are both ready and needed, and as such get a connection date, connection point, and queue position. Other projects receive Gate 1 offers which are more indicative, according to the UK’s energy regulator Ofgem.

The London-based investor in utility-scale battery energy storage systems said the connection date for the Monet’s Garden project in North Yorkshire is in line with expectations for the site.

It follows another Gate 2 connection offer from Neso for a 240 megawatts battery energy storage system project in Cockenzie, a town in Scotland, which Gresham House announced earlier this month.

The connection offers ‘[take] the company a step closer to closing the financing of the first three pipeline projects of the company’s three-year plan. We look forward to continuing our progress and providing more information on the financing once concluded,’ Gresham House said.

Gresham House shares were up 2.2% to 76.87 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London.
