Howden Joinery backs outlook as pricing helps offset cost inflation

Howden Joinery Group PLC on Thursday said it remains on track to deliver profit in line with current market expectations after reporting sales growth despite "challenging" market conditions.

In a trading statement, London-based Howden said sales rose 6.8% from a year before in the just over four months from June 14 to October 31.

The FTSE 100 listing sells kitchens and joinery products to trade customers, primarily local builders, through 893 depots in the UK and 82 depots in France, Belgium and the Republic of Ireland. In 2025, it reported revenue of £2.4 billion and pretax profit of £344.9 million.

In the UK, sales increased by 6.8% in "challenging macro-economic conditions", and by 1.8% on a pro forma basis. The latter measure includes the sales of DIY Kitchens in both years.

Howden acquired DIY Kitchens on June 23. It is reported within the UK business and included in reported sales from the acquisition date.

Howden said it achieved record sales during TradeFest, its peak trading period, supported by a significant proportion of new kitchen and joinery product in its line-up. DIY Kitchens performed well and as expected, post-acquisition.

International sales in local currency increased by 6.2%, and by 10% excluding the impact of planned French depot closures.

Chief Executive Andrew Livingston said: "Our on-going productivity and efficiency programmes are supporting competitive pricing across all our kitchen and joinery categories and are helping to mitigate inflationary pressures. We remain on track with the outlook for 2026."

Howden expects to deliver underlying pretax profit in line with company compiled consensus of £361 million.

Shares in Howden Joinery were up 1.8% to 855.50 pence each in London on Thursday.
