HSBC CFO Pam Kaur set to leave in 2027 after two years in post

HSBC Holdings PLC on Thursday said Chief Financial Officer Pam Kaur will step down next year, after just over two years on the job.

The London-based, Asia-focused universal bank said Kaur will stepping down from the full-time role of CFO by no later than the 2027 annual general meeting. HSBC generally holds its AGMs in May.

Kaur then will assume an advisory role to support Chief Executive Officer Georges Elhedery on strategic projects and ensure a smooth transition to her successor.

Kaur, who became CFO in January 2025, will not stand for re-election as a director at the 2027 AGM but will remain on the board until then, HSBC said.

HSBC said it has started to look for a new CFO, considering both internal and external candidates.

Kaur said: "With the bank in a strong place, financially and strategically, 2027 feels like the right time in my career to embrace new leadership opportunities and apply my experience in a different context."

Shares in HSBC were down 1.7% at 1,523.20 pence per share on Thursday morning in London.
