Intertek expands South American footprint with purchase in Colombia

Intertek Group PLC on Friday said it has acquired Colombian business QTEST for an undisclosed amount.

The London-based provider of assurance, testing, inspection and certification services is making the purchase through its electrical safety-focused branch, Intertek ETL.

It described QTEST as ‘a market-leading provider of high-quality electrical testing and certification services’ which it sees supporting Latin American growth plans.

The Medellin, Colombia-based business was founded in 2006, and in 2025, its revenue totalled £2.0 million.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Intertek Chief Executive Andre Lacroix commented: ‘The acquisition of this high-quality, market-leading business represents an exciting growth opportunity for Intertek ETL, allowing us to expand into a highly attractive, high-growth economy.

‘We look forward to welcoming the QTEST team to Intertek and providing our customers across Latin America and international markets with a broader suite of industry-leading ATIC solutions.’

Intertek shares rose 1.2% to 4,748.00 pence on Friday morning in London.
