Intertek quarterly sales rise ahead of GBP9.5 billion takeover by EQT
Intertek Group PLC on Wednesday maintained full-year guidance as it reported strong third-quarter sales growth and said its proposed takeover by EQT is on track.
Intertek is a London-based assurance, inspection, product testing and certification provider.
In June, it accepted a £9.5 billion takeover offer from Luxembourg-based EQT Fund Management Sarl. The offer, made through bid vehicle Isotope Bidco Ltd, values each Intertek share at 6,107.70 pence. This includes 6,000p in cash per share, plus Intertek's final dividend for 2025 of 107.7p per share.
Shares in Intertek were flat at 5,920.00 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
Intertek said the acquisition by EQT is on track to complete in the fourth quarter of 2026 or first quarter of 2027, subject to outstanding regulatory approvals.
Updating on trading, Intertek said revenue grew 8.1% to £941.8 million in its third quarter from £871.0 million a year prior, or by 7.0% at constant currency.
At constant currency, sales rose 10% in Consumer Products, 4.3% in Corporate Assurance, 15% in Health & Safety, and 8.1% in Industry & Infrastructure but slipped 0.2% in World of Energy.
Intertek highlighted a robust performance from recently made acquisitions in high-growth and high-margin segments, and strong margin progression driven by divisional mix, pricing, operating leverage, cost controls and productivity improvements.
For the first nine months of 2026, revenue is up 7.1% to £2.71 billion from £2.54 billion, or 6.4% at constant currency.
Intertek maintained its full-year outlook for mid-single-digit like-for-like revenue growth, margin improvement, strong earnings growth and cash generation.
