Ireland's goods exports rise by almost 10% in June - CSO
Ireland's goods exports and imports increased in June from the previous month, led by stronger shipments of chemicals and machinery, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed on Tuesday.
Total goods exports rose 9.7% to EUR18.1 billion in June from EUR16.5 billion in May.
Exports to Europe increased to EUR6.6 billion from EUR6.0 billion, while exports to the UK were steady at EUR2.1 billion. Exports to the US fell to EUR4.3 billion from EUR4.7 billion, but exports to the rest of the world jumped to EUR5.1 billion from EUR3.6 billion.
Chemicals & Related Products remained Ireland's largest export category, rising to EUR9.1 billion from EUR8.1 billion in May. Exports of Machinery & Transport Equipment increased to EUR4.8 billion from EUR4.0 billion.
Total goods imports rose to EUR14.7 billion in June from EUR13.1 billion in May.
Imports from Europe were unchanged at EUR4.6 billion, while imports from the UK edged up to EUR2.0 billion from EUR1.9 billion. Imports from the US increased sharply to EUR2.6 billion from EUR1.6 billion, and imports from the rest of the world rose to EUR5.5 billion from EUR5.0 billion.
Imports of Machinery & Transport Equipment climbed to EUR7.2 billion from EUR5.8 billion, while Chemicals & Related Products imports increased to EUR3.2 billion from EUR2.8 billion.
