Irish annual inflation rate steady in July while slows monthly

Ireland's annual consumer price index inflation rate was steady in July, while the monthly increase in prices moderated, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.

The country's consumer prices rose 3.4% on-year in July, the same rate as in June.

On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.1% in July, decelerated from June's 0.3% increase.

On a harmonised level allowing for EU-wide comparison, prices rose 3.1% on-year in July, slowed from 3.2% in June and in line with flash data released in late July.

Monthly, consumer prices rose 0.1% in July after a 0.3% climb in June, and higher than the flash reading which had anticipated prices to have remained steady on-month in July.

The division with the sharpest monthly rise in consumer prices in July was Recreation, Sport & Culture with 2.7%, while the division with the strongest monthly fall was in Clothing & Footwear with a 5.1% decline.
