Irish harmonised inflation slows to 3.5% on-year in May, as expected

Ireland’s harmonised annual consumer price index inflation rate decelerated as anticipated in May, data published by the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.

The country’s on-year harmonised CPI rate, which allows for EU-wide comparison, came down to 3.5% in May from 3.6% in April, and in line with the flash estimate the CSO had released in late May.

On-month, harmonised consumer prices fell 0.2% in May, sharper than the flash estimate of a 0.1% dip, and following a 0.5% rise in April.

Meanwhile, consumer prices in Ireland rose 3.6% on-year in May, slowed from a 3.7% climb in April.

Monthly, consumer prices declined by 0.1% in May after rising by 0.5% in April.
