Irish wholesale electricity prices rise 10% in August from July

Irish wholesale electricity prices rose in August, while overall manufacturing producer prices edged lower on the month before, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed on Tuesday.

Wholesale electricity prices rose 9.6% month-on-month in August and were 77% higher than a year earlier. However, prices remained 56% below their August 2022 peak.

The price index for all energy fuels increased 11% on the month and 35% annually, driven partly by higher fuel oil and gas oil prices.

Overall manufacturing producer prices fell 0.8% in August from July but were 6.5% higher year-on-year. Export producer prices increased 6.9% annually, while domestic producer prices rose 2.4%.

Food producer prices declined 2.1% on the month before but increased 0.6% annually. Fish and fish products rose 8.6% year-on-year, while meat and meat products fell 9.6%.

Wholesale construction product prices were unchanged on the month and up 3.3% from a year earlier.
