Kromek wins UK MoD biosecurity contract and other CBRN orders
Kromek Group PLC on Monday said it secured a £250,000 biosecurity contract from the UK Ministry of Defence, alongside other orders in its chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear detection segment, or CBRN, worth around £860,000.
The Sedgefield, England-based detection technology supplier said the 18-month MoD project will develop new methods for detecting biological agents and incidents. It is funded through the UK government’s Defence & Security Accelerator programme.
Kromek said it has also received a $470,000 order for its D5 detectors under a pre-existing contract with a US federal entity, as well as £252,000 worth of orders for its D3M detectors from distributors in Japan, Canada and Bulgaria for first responder and homeland security use.
Chief Executive Officer Arnab Basu said the latest orders highlight ‘the broad, growing base of organisations’ that rely on Kromek’s technology and expand its collaboration with the UK MoD.
Most of the orders are expected to be delivered in the first half of its financial year ending April 30, 2026.
Shares in Kromek were up 5.7% at 5.28 pence each in London on Monday morning.
