Metlen agrees sale of Tamarico II solar battery project in Chile

Metlen Energy & Metals PLC on Thursday announced it has agreed to sell its Tamarico II solar and battery project in Chile to Copec SA subsidiary Copec Flux Spa.

The Athens-based aluminium producer and electricity generator said the project comprises a 165 megawatt photovoltaic power station and a 725 MWh battery energy storage system.

Metlen Energy & Metals did not provide financial details on the Chilean solar project sale.

Metlen said the agreement further strengthens its partnership with Copec and lays the groundwork for the two companies to expand new renewable energy and storage investments in Chile.

M Reset Chief Executive Director Nikos Papapetrou explained: "The agreement with Copec Flux further demonstrates our ability to build strong, long-term partnerships and highlights Chile as an important example of how renewable energy generation and energy storage can be combined to support the energy transition and enhance the resilience of the energy system."

M Reset is Metlen's renewables, storage and energy transition platform.

Copec Chief Executive Officer Arturo Natho said the agreement represents a further step in its strategy to consolidate its renewable generation and energy storage portfolio.

Shares in Metlen were down 0.1% at EUR47.62 on Thursday morning in London.
