Ocado sells wines from Virgin Wines UK amid strategic partnership

Virgin Wines UK on Friday said that Ocado Group PLC since Wednesday offers 50 wines from its Virgin Wines portfolio as the companies agreed a strategic partnership.

Norwich, England-based Virgin Wines is one of the UK’s largest direct-to-consumer online wine retailers. It offers nearly 700 different wines and about 150 spirits to an active customer base of more than 170,000.

Virgin Wines Chief Executive Officer Jay Wright said: ‘We are thrilled to be working with Ocado to bring our expertise in sourcing and creating wines to its considerable audience. This collaboration allows us to introduce Ocado customers to a hand-picked selection of exclusive wines from our large and distinctive portfolio.’

Virgin Wines shares rose 5.6% to 41.70 pence each on Friday morning in London, while Ocado shares were up 0.8% at 386.60p.
