PRESS: JD Sports plans sale of Billionaire Boys Club licence - Sky

JD Sports Fashion PLC is exploring a sale of the wholesale business which owns a licence to the Billionaire Boys Club streetwear brand, Sky News reported on Thursday.

Sky News reported that the Manchester, England-based sportswear retailer is working with advisers at Interpath on a potential deal.

According to Sky’s market sources, possible buyers of the licence have been sounded out in recent weeks about a transaction.

JD Sports Fashion bought A Number of Names, the wholesaler with the licence, in late 2020. It holds the licence for countries including the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Canada.

The commercial performance is ‘unclear’, Sky News said, but one source described the brand as ‘non core’.

Billionaire Boys Club was founded by musician Pharrell Williams and Japanese designer Nigo in 2003.

JD Sports and Interpath declined to comment to Sky News.

Shares in JD Sports were up 3.9% at 86.80 pence on Thursday afternoon in London.
