Probiotix Health gross profit and margin jump as sales increase 36%

Probiotix Health PLC on Monday said gross profit nearly doubled in the first half of the financial year despite "ongoing global uncertainty" affecting some of its markets.

The Wakefield, England-based life sciences business developing probiotics to tackle cardiovascular disease and other lifestyle conditions said sales increased 36% to £2.7 million in the nine months ended September 30 from £2.0 million the year prior.

Gross profit surged 88% to £1.6 million from £870,000 at an improved margin of 61% versus 54%.

The firm swung to earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of £150,000 from a £250,000 loss the year prior.

Probiotix Health said a cash balance of £1.2 million at September 30, provides sufficient liquidity to fund planned activities.

Chief Executive Steen Andersen said: "We are pleased with the continued growth achieved during the first nine months of 2026, and the resilience demonstrated by the business, despite ongoing global uncertainty affecting some of our markets."

He added the "continued expansion of our customer base, growing pipeline of active sales opportunities and increasing commercial interest at key industry events, including CPhI in Milan and Vitafoods in Barcelona, reinforce our confidence in the strength and long-term sustainability of our value proposition."

Andersen said the firm's investment in the Chinese market is "beginning to deliver results, and with the refocused US commercial activities expected to gain momentum in early 2027, we remain confident in the group's outlook and future growth prospects."

Shares in the company were 18% higher at 10.06 pence each in London on Monday.
