Sanderson Design backs outlook as North America underpins growth

Sanderson Design Group PLC on Monday hailed the growing strength of its US business as it delivered higher half-year sales and profit.

The London-based interior design and furnishings group reported a pretax profit of £2.5 million in the six months ended July 31 compared to £1.5 million the year prior.

Adjusted underlying pretax profit improved 47% to £3.3 million from £2.2 million.

Revenue rose 6.4% to £51.4 million from £48.3 million.

Total Brand product revenue grew 2.3%, with strong North America growth more than offsetting UK softness. Third-party manufacturing revenue was up 19%, driven by substantial US demand, while licensing revenue climbed 13% and direct-to-consumer revenue more than doubled.

Basic earnings per share increased 74% to 2.45 pence from 1.41p, or by 47% to 3.32p from 2.22p on an adjusted basis.

The dividend was maintained at 0.50p per share.

Chief Executive Lisa Montague said: "These results demonstrate the excellent progress we are making in evolving Sanderson Design Group into an internationally recognised design house with global distribution. We are generating strong momentum in North America and direct-to-consumer, reflecting our strategic focus on the areas where we see the greatest opportunities for long-term profitable growth."

Sanderson Design highlighted continued strategic progress to increase market position in North America, which is now the group's most profitable, highest-margin and fastest-growing territory.

Looking ahead, the firm expects full-year trading to be in line with market expectations for adjusted underlying pretax profit of £6.5 million and revenue of £102.0 million.

In the financial year ended January 31, 2026, the company reported adjusted underlying pretax profit of £5.3 million and revenue of £99.5 million.

Shares in Sanderson Design Group were flat at 77.00p in London on Monday.
