Standard Chartered PLC on Wednesday said profit increased in the third quarter of 2026 as it upped guidance.

The London-based, Asia-focused bank reported that pretax profit increased to USD2.25 billion in the third quarter ended September 30, up 27% from USD1.78 billion year-on-year.

Bill Winters, chief executive officer, said: "We delivered another strong quarter, with broad-based growth across our businesses and year-to-date earnings per share up 27%.

"We have long believed that the structural shifts in trade, investment and wealth creation would create significant opportunities for Standard Chartered, and our performance this quarter provides further evidence that we are capturing them."

The firm upped its guidance, forecasting operating income growth above its previous guidance range of between 5% and 7% for the full year.

Shares in Standard Chartered closed up 0.5% at 2,019.00 pence each in London on Tuesday.
