TotalEnergies, KKR add 700 megawatts of solar under US joint venture

TotalEnergies SE on Monday said it is expanding its joint venture with investment firm KKR & Co Inc by adding three large solar assets valued at USD1.20 billion.

The deal will add 700 megawatts to the joint venture the companies created in 2025, which currently holds a renewables portfolio of 1.4 gigawatts.

The three utility-scale solar assets are located in Texas and Ohio and are scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2027, TotalEnergies said.

The plants' electricity is already sold to third parties or will be marketed by TotalEnergies.

TotalEnergies said it will continue to operate the assets after the transaction, expected to close in 2026.

Shares in the energy company were down 3% to EUR77.90 each on Monday morning in Paris.
