UK Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds to lead India trip - Sky News
UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Jonathan Reynolds will fly to India next week with top business leaders and several regional mayors, Sky News reported on Thursday.
Bosses from companies including Arup, Barclays PLC, EY and Oxford Nanopore Technologies PLC are among those expected to join Reynolds on the four-day trip to New Delhi and Mumbai.
Seven northern mayors are also to attend the trip, during which a number of private sector deals and partnerships are expected to be announced, Sky News said.
The meetings will be held three months after the UK Free Trade Agreement with India came into effect. The FTA ensures 99% of Indian goods entering the UK and 90% of UK goods entering India are either duty-free or reduced in tariffs.
The deal is expected to boost bilateral trade by £25.5 billion, with UK GDP expected to rise by £4.8 billion annually over time.
Neither the Department for Business, Innovation and Trade nor any of the companies mentioned responded to enquiries from Sky News.
