United Utilities says AMP8 investment on track; seeks extra funding

United Utilities Group PLC on Friday said its financial framework and guidance for 2026/27 remains unchanged ahead of its interim results announcement on November 12.

The Warrington, England-based water utility said operational performance was in line with expectations and that delivery of its AMP8 capital programme was progressing well.

United Utilities remains on track to deliver about £2.00 billion of capital investment in 2026/27 and about £11.5 billion across AMP8. It continues to target regulatory returns of 10% to 11% in AMP8.

AMP8 is the five-year regulatory period for the water industry in England and Wales running from 2025 to 2030. United Utilities' investment programme aims to upgrade infrastructure, improve environmental performance and strengthen resilience.

United Utilities said it had submitted its response to Ofwat's 2026 Cost Change Draft Decision, seeking about £1.03 billion of investment to "enhance network resilience, provide additional water and wastewater capacity across the region and enable economic growth in the North West".

The company said it remains on track to access about £2.5 billion of investment through the annualised AMP8 re-opener mechanism.

"We look forward to continued constructive engagement with Ofwat ahead of the Final Decision in December 2026," United Utilities said.

Shares in United Utilities were up 0.5% at 1,405.00 pence on Friday morning in London.
