I've never been good at anything endurance related, and previously scoffed at the idea of attempting a triathlon - though I'd always wanted to complete a distance event of some sort; for the personal satisfaction of achieving it. When presented with the opportunity to take part I couldn't refuse and started training up to 5 times a week in preparation for it. On the day I was a bit nervous, and completely surprised by the fun welcoming atmosphere! Paul Butler

Having won a free sponsors place I ran in memory of a very good friend and triathlon training buddy Darren Hale who died the weekend before after completing the Blithfield Standard Triathlon.

A real big thank you to the Sponsors AJBell!

I’ve been taking part on and off ever since I was 17 years old, and the sheer size and warmth of the crowd never fail to make it a special experience.

That seemed like a pretty sensible idea, so they sent me a list of questions and I got stuck in ...
