How to top up your account
Follow these steps to top up your AJ Bell account.
The quickest way to top up your account is by using your debit card, or by choosing Pay from bank, and your money will be available for you to invest straight away.
First, log in to your account and click top up next to the account you want to fund. Alternatively, you can select ‘Single payment’ from the menu.
If you have more than one account with us, you’ll be asked to select which one you’d like to top up. Remember, if you’re putting money into your ISA or SIPP, you need to make sure you don’t go over your allowances for the tax year.
To top up your account by debit card, enter the amount and select ‘debit card’ as your payment option. You can use your debit card to top up your SIPP for personal contributions, as well as your Dealing account, ISA and Lifetime ISA. If you want to save your card details for future use, click yes on this screen. If you’d prefer not to, just click no. On the next screen, enter your debit card details. Once you’ve entered and checked your card details, click ‘Confirm’. You’ll then see a ‘payment complete’ screen where you can choose to make another payment, view your newly topped-up account, or close if you’ve finished.
To top up your account using pay from bank, enter the amount and select ‘pay from my bank’ as your payment option. You can use Pay from bank to top up your SIPP, Dealing account, ISA or Lifetime ISA. Before you make the payment, you’ll be asked to check the amount you’re paying in. You’ll also be able to see your payment reference. If you’re happy, click continue. Next, you’ll see your preselected bank or building society – it’ll be the same bank account you registered with us when you opened your account. Here you can also choose whether you want to make the payment on mobile, which is faster, or via the device you’re using. If you select ‘pay faster on mobile’, you’ll be asked to scan a QR code, which will direct you to your preselected bank’s online banking screen. Follow their payment instructions, and once the payment is authorised, you’ll be redirected to your confirmation screen.
Here you’ll see the confirmation of your payment. And if you view your account, you’ll be able to see the money you’ve just paid in. If you choose to make the payment on the device you’re using, click ‘agree and continue’ at the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions from your bank or building society. Once your bank or building society have authorised your payment, you’ll see this confirmation screen. And if you view your account, you’ll be able to see the money you’ve just paid in.
Your employer can also make additional one-off contributions to your SIPP by bank transfer. To get started, select ‘Single payment’ from the menu and choose to top up your SIPP. Then from the drop-down menus select employer contribution. Next, fill in all your employer’s details and the amount they’ll be paying in. When you hit continue, the pop up will show all the details you need to pass onto your employer so they can process the payment.
You can also choose to top-up your account regularly by direct debit. Just go to the 'My account' menu and click 'Regular payment'. If you have any questions, or problems paying money into your account, just give our customer services team a call on 0345 54 32 600.
