Aptitude Software stock shoots up as Fynapse fuels recurring revenue
Aptitude Software Group PLC on Wednesday reported lower revenue and profit for its first half, although the AI Autonomous Finance segment saw double-digit growth thanks to its Fynapse solution.
Shares in Aptitude Software were 11% higher at 237.67 pence in London on Wednesday afternoon.
The London-based finance software company reported pretax profit of £840,000 for the first half of 2026, down 54% from £1.8 million the year before. Total revenue declined by 12% to £28.8 million from £32.8 million.
Annual recurring revenue declined 2% to £49.9 million at June 30 from £50.8 million one year prior. Of this, Assure revenue fell 23% to £3.9 million from £5.1 million; Other Software revenue decreased 7% to £25.9 million from £27.8 million; and AI Autonomous Finance revenue climbed 12% to £20.1 million from £17.9 million, which Aptitude said was due to its strategic focus on the Fynapse solution.
Aptitude Software added that Fynapse contributed £4.9 million to AI Autonomous Finance's ARR, up from £2.6 million the previous year.
Recurring revenue accounted for 88.1% of total revenue, the company said, up from 81.5%, "increasing the group's proportion of predictable revenues and improving revenue visibility."
Operating profit fell 40% to £1.2 million, although adjusted operating profit increased 4% to a "resilient" £5.1 million from £4.9 million.
Aptitude Software declared an interim dividend of 1.8 pence per share, unchanged from the prior year.
"H1 2026 marked further progress in Aptitude's transformation, with our largest ever Fynapse win and a pipeline that has strengthened in both quality and quantity demonstrating that the market is responding to Fynapse," commented Chief Executive Alex Curran. "We substantially completed the rationalisation of our product lines and organisational structure during the period, and continued to improve how we operate internally, including through greater use of AI tools across the business, which has made us more effective and efficient.
"That gives us real confidence in the strategic direction we've set. We continue to progress discussions with certain parties and will update investors in due course."
Aptitude Software, which is undergoing a formal sales process, said it has received "a number of proposals from high-quality trade and private equity counterparties, including non-binding indicative proposals to acquire either the company or to acquire eSuite and the IFRS Rules compliance engines."
"Following consideration of those proposals, the board is continuing discussions with certain of the parties that submitted proposals to make a cash offer for the company, with discussions with one such party being more advanced," the firm added.
Looking ahead, the company "remains focussed on capturing the significant market opportunity open to Fynapse through accelerating its new logo win rate as it converts the strong pipeline built over recent periods, upgrading existing clients onto Fynapse, and monetising both to full revenue over time."
