IN BRIEF: BP appoints Carol Howle as deputy chief executive officer

BP PLC - London-based oil major - Last week Thursday, announces appointment of Carol Howle as deputy chief executive officer, effective since that day. She will continue to lead supply, trading & shipping, and in her new role will oversee the company’s ongoing portfolio review and strategic development, BP says. Howle has spent 25 years with BP and served as interim CEO in December 2025. Meg O’Neill, CEO of BP since Wednesday, says: ‘As I step into my new role I am committed to providing clear direction and consistency so our company can move forward with confidence. To support this, Carol will oversee the ongoing portfolio review and long-term strategy development beyond our 2027 targets. I’m looking forward to working closely with her to deliver a simpler, stronger, more valuable BP to maximize value for our shareholders.’

Current stock price: 597.26 pence each, up 1.0% on Tuesday around noon in London
